4th grade students students have outdone themselves this fall with their creative Pumpkin Book Reports! 🎃 Each pumpkin was transformed into a character from their favorite books, bringing stories to life in the most gourd-geous way. This year for Halloween, teachers stepped straight out of the pages of beloved stories and into Central School! From magical worlds to thrilling adventures, their creative costumes brought smiles, laughter, and a little extra magic to our school. ✨A huge shout out to our amazing staff for inspiring us all to keep reading and imagining! 💕





Mrs. Mazza’s fifth graders celebrated Hispanic Heritage Month by diving into the rich cultures of Latin America! Each student created a vibrant travel brochure showcasing a country of their choice. From stunning landscapes to delicious cuisines, they explored it all! It was a fantastic way to learn and appreciate the diversity of our world.


Central students at the Metra Train Safety Presentation Assembly, where they learned important train safety tips! 🚂 This valuable experience helped inform and encourage safe behaviors around trains.




Go for the Gold! 🏅 Central’s kindergarten students celebrated the culmination of their nursery rhymes and fables unit in ELA by participating in the exciting Nursery Rhyme Olympics! The events included the Humpty Dumpty Puzzle Race, Jack Be Nimble Candlestick Hurdles, Little Miss Muffet Musical Chairs, and the Baa Baa Black Sheep Wool Spoon Race. It was a day filled with fun and creativity as students brought their favorite nursery rhymes to life!











First grade math in action! This week, students designed and planned three different kebabs, each featuring 10 pieces of fruit. To make it more interesting, no two kebabs could be the same, and each had to include at least three different types of fruit. After creating their designs, the students chose their favorite kebab to make and eat today. It was a delicious way to apply math skills! 🍓🍊🍍






Riverside School District 96, will be hosting a Parent presentation of "Keeping Our Kids Cyber Safe" presentation on the following date and times: This event will take place tonight, October 17th, 2024 in the Hauser Junior High Auditorium from 6:00PM-8:00 PM.
All parents, guardians, teachers and grandparents are welcome to attend as well. Det. Richard Wistocki, nationally recognized High Technology Cyber Crimes Specialist, will be presenting proactive strategies, expert insight, and invaluable resources designed to empower you to combat Cyber-Bullying Vaping, and Sexting.
This morning, Hauser students saw an age-appropriate version of the presentation.


Mrs. Bindon's 4th grade class celebrated the conclusion of their ELA unit with a delightful game of Candy Land! The students explored chapters from Small Steps, which tells the inspiring story of Peg Kehret, a woman who faced the challenges of polio. They also learned about Eleanor Abbott, the inventive mind behind Candy Land, who created the game for children in hospitals, bringing joy and imagination to their healing journeys. This engaging activity not only highlighted the resilience of these remarkable women but also reinforced the importance of play and creativity in overcoming obstacles. It was a sweet way to wrap up their learning! 🍭







Exciting times in kindergarten! This week, kindergarteners practiced skills during centers to reinforce their learning about nursery rhymes and fables in ELA and counting, describing, and comparing various attributes of objects in math.








Mold Terrariums! 🦠 In science, Mrs. Mazza's class planned and conducted an investigation to discover the factors affecting decomposition. Students filled bags with different types of foods and changed the environmental conditions to study how different variables affect mold growth.





It was a fun week in Mrs. Marotta's first grade class! They went on a "trip" to the United Kingdom during ELA. On the plane they made passports, had a popcorn snack, watched a video on the U.K. and read a story, "A Trip to the U.K." They had fun using mirrors to watch their mouth formation when saying short vowel sounds. They also enjoyed buddy reading their story! ✈️










Happy October! 🎃 This month for SEL, we're excited to focus on the theme of growth mindset. Our fifth-grade student council representatives have been visiting classrooms to share the important message that a growth mindset means believing in the power of our brains to grow and learn new things. Embracing this mindset encourages us all to tackle challenges with confidence and curiosity!


Ten Apples Up on Top! 🍎 Kindergarten classes explored apple parts and attributes and wrapped up their science unit with an apple party! Check out Mrs. Brady's class participating in amazing apple themed activities. 🍎








"Today was amazing!" said Claudia. It really was such a fun day to be in first grade! Mrs. Marotta's class had a science investigation that included a leaf hunt on this beautiful day. ☀️They used leaves to make crayon rubbings.






This week in science, Mrs. Neal's second grade class explored how different properties of clothing materials are good for different situations.
