🍀 St. Patrick’s Day fun at Central School! 🍀 Our students had a whimsical day wearing green, playing games, and getting creative to celebrate this festive day. We are so lucky to have such amazing students and staff!
Central’s wonderful kindergarten teachers hosted a fun-filled ice cream social for the auction winners and their guests! 🍨 The afternoon was sprinkled with creativity, delicious ice cream sundaes, crafts, and exciting games. Everyone had scoops of fun and Gingy—kindergarten’s beloved gingerbread man mascot—was there to bring even more smiles! A sweet time was had by all! 🍦

Central's Student Council is inviting everyone to take part in this fun campaign to spread awareness about Down syndrome. The idea is simple: wear your most eye-catching socks – whether they’re mismatched or your brightest, boldest pairs – and start a conversation!
When someone asks about your socks, share that you're wearing them to raise awareness for Down syndrome. By joining the Lots of Socks campaign, we can help advocate for the rights, inclusion, and well-being of people with Down syndrome.

We absolutely adore the visits with our furry friend, Lily, the therapy dog! 🐾 Her joyful spirit brightens our day every time. We can’t wait to see her, and she’s always excited for all the rubs, belly scratches, and treats we’ve got in store! 🐶💖
Mrs. Desmond's 3rd-grade class was honored to welcome a special guest this week! A parent graciously shared their knowledge and personal experiences about Ramadan, providing students with a deeper understanding of this important cultural and religious tradition. It was a truly enriching experience for all, and we look forward to continuing our exploration of diverse cultures and traditions in classrooms at Central School this year!
Family Literacy Night was a huge success! The PK/K Escape Room made a splash as students and their families worked together to complete five exciting challenges. They pieced together clues, cracked the secret code, and escaped to win awesome prizes from the Treasure Chest! 📚🗝️

Yesterday, Central School came together for a special One Book, One School assembly, celebrating our shared journey through Crenshaw by Katherine Applegate! 🐱 📖
The auditorium was a sea of purple as students and staff dressed up to honor Crenshaw, the unforgettable imaginary cat! Inspired by Jackson’s story, students donated to our local food pantry to help families in need to help make a difference in our community. A huge thank you to Doug Asbury from the pantry for sharing how our donations will have an impact!
The celebration didn’t stop there! To connect with Crenshaw even more, everyone enjoyed an incredible musical performance—a nod to Jackson and Robin’s parents, who were musicians themselves. Drew rocked the hits of B.B. King, Aretha Franklin, and more bringing the spirit of music and storytelling to life. It was an unforgettable experience for all! 🎶 💜

From aspiring doctors and scientists to artists and astronauts, classrooms were filled with creativity and ambition. Dear District 96 Families,
School is open tomorrow, Feb. 12, 2025. I am sending this message due to the current weather forecast and the fact that a number of school districts are opting for an E Learning day tomorrow. We are not. We will be open for school as usual. Our after school clubs and activities are canceled. According to recent weather forecasts, snow may increase over the course of the day. We understand that the conditions will support safe travel to and from school tomorrow. Please know that the safety and well being of our students, our families and our staff members are always our top priority. While weather conditions can be unpredictable we believe that our work with the local villages, department of public works and up to date weather forecasting allow for a meaningful day of student learning tomorrow. Dress warmly, travel safely and we look forward to seeing you in school.

The first One Book, One School Spirit Day was a purr-fect success! 🐱 The hallways were filled with whiskered cats and imaginary friends—just like Jackson’s loyal (and larger-than-life) companion, Crenshaw! It was a delight to see our school coming together to share in the joy of reading.💜
Guess who zoomed into Central School? It’s FLASH! ⚡️Our favorite roadrunner mascot made a visit last week, spreading school spirit and cheer all around!
Our kindergarten friends wrapped up another ELA unit with an exciting STEM challenge—building houses for the Three Little Pigs! 🏠 🐷 Using toothpicks and gumdrops, they worked in teams to design and construct sturdy homes, hoping to outsmart the Big Bad Wolf’s huff and puff! 💨🐺 Through creativity, teamwork, and a little trial and error, these young engineers put their structures to the test. It was an action-packed week at Central! We celebrated the 101st day of school in the most un-fur-gettable way. Our first grade teachers and friends unleashed their creativity and dressed up as Dalmatians. They had a ball participating in a variety of puppy-themed adventures! 🐶 From dog ears to creative crafts and exciting games, it was a paws-itively amazing 101st day of school! 🐾
The 100th Day celebrations continued, and our Roadrunners had a blast designing special crowns and dressing up as if they were 100 years old! They fully embraced the spirit of the day while enjoying exciting themed activities. We are so proud of how much they’ve grown and learned in these 100 days! 🤓
