The Board of Education reviewed the 2026/27 draft calendar at its January 21 meeting. The proposed first day of school is Thursday, August 27, 2026 with an end date of Tuesday, June 8, 2027. Winter and spring break dates are aligned with RBHS’s approved 2026-27 calendar.
Several other factors were considered when drafting the calendar:
Selecting a start date that avoids the school year ending on a Monday
Scheduling two consecutive teacher institute days to begin the school year
Coordinating the 8th grade graduation date with RBHS, as we use their facilities
Three half-day institute days have also been added on October 30, January 28, and May 14 along with the established April 23 half day. Riverside Parks and Recreation will provide free childcare on these dates. These professional learning days allow staff to collaborate and plan ahead while maintaining a student instruction day.
